Development Adviser (Learning Technologies)

In July 2001, I joined the Educational Development department at the University after teaching professional and recreational diving at the Diving & Sailing Centre for several years.

My role at ED is to support the development of learning and teaching, especially where communication and information technologies are involved.

I run a module called Embedding Learning Technologies (ELT), which is a professional development programme designed to meet the participants specific needs. The module encourages teaching colleagues to enhance students’ development through the appropriate selection, implementation and evaluation of learning technologies. Have a look at the ELT Website if you are interested!

I lead the nationally accredited General Teaching Associates course (GTA). This is a short course designed to cover the essential aspects of making quality presentations and surviving as a teaching assistant or demonstrator. You can find out about the GTA course from the GTA Website, where you can register for the next course online or ask for details of future dates to be sent to you as they are released.

When I am not at work, if I’m not immersed in an aviation book or fiddling with computers, you are just as likely to catch me fixing my old car (rather too often these days).
